MOVIE REVIEW : Manassinakkare

 Manissinakkare is a family entertainer movie directed by well known director Sathyan Anthikkad. 

CAST: Sheela as Kochu Thressia. Jayaram as Reji, Nayanthara as Gauri. Innocent as Chakho Mappila.Siddique as Tony. KPAC Lalita as Kochu Maria.

The setting of the movie in a small town full of paddy fields and village elements is very apt.

The opening with Kochu Thressia going to church behind Tony and gossiping with her friends shows her friendly nature.She complains about preist, to himself without any fear.

The scene introducing Reji was well done.Him having debts and trying to find excuses for it was funny.Reji has certain beauty standards fixed for his wife.Every girl the broker introduces do not have the beauty of Clara ,his ex

Kochu Thressia was shown as a cute grandma with childishness still inside. I love the bond of father and son played by Innocent and Jayaram. Jayaram's skill in mimicry is shown through his accurate depiction of Prem Nazir's voice.The ending of the story kind of feels rushed , we didn't got know anything on how Reji's and Gouri's love developed apart from the fact that they spend time together and have a similar mindset.KPAC Lalita as Kochu Maria had a few very emotional moments that she nailed it perfectly, it's no wonder why she is praised so much.

The friendship of Kochu Thressia and Kochu Maria is shown well.

Reji is a down to earth and humble man.He has a pleasant face.He brings Kochu Thressia to watch movies and to cheer for the actors on screen when with Tony she had to sit stone-faced.He takes her to visit her native place.

When Kochu Thressia sat on Reji's bike Tony was furious about it  and Kuriakose played by Nedumudi Venu remarks it as something shameful. As if a woman sitting on a motocycle which is driven by a man is something disgusting.Nothing has changed much now.

Mammukoya as marriage broker also played a role that represents the society. His views on inter religious marriage was set in society a long ago.

Oduvil Unnikrishnan and Sukumari portrays the best parents anyone could get.They are very understanding.Their relationship dynamic in the movie was great.

All songs in the movie were great. My favourite one was 'Chendakkoru kolundada'.

The fact that how many youngsters can take care of the old in their family as readily like Reji did is still a question mark.

"The blood of the covenant is thicker than water in the womb" is a saying that fits so well with the movie. In the end there were no family members to take care of Kochu Thressia, only Reji and Gauri decided to stay by her side.
